With a Spectacular 3-0 Victory over Senegal in the World Cup 2022 Last-16 Match, England Finally Breaks the “Curse” of ITV, Yet France is Up Next
ENGLAND fans are celebrating after their victory over Senegal broke the ITV curse, but they will face a much tougher test on Saturday on the same network.
When being aired on the BBC’s rival channel, The Three Lions have historically struggled in major tournaments.
Before their incredible victory last night, England had lost all ten of their regular-season games that were shown on ITV.
Additionally, compared to when games were broadcast on the BBC, ITV’s team had a significantly lower win percentage.
A dull goalless draw on ITV was sandwiched between two incredible group stage victories on the BBC, giving the impression that this season’s trend was continuing.
After a challenging first 30 minutes, however, it now seems that the curse has been broken as England destroyed Senegal yesterday.
The curse will be put to the biggest test, however, when the quarterfinal matchup with France is also scheduled to air on Britain’s second-largest TV network.
The nation’s progress in the knockout rounds has not yet been derailed by the curse, so for the time being, fans are just glad about that.
One fan on Twitter wrote: “The ITV curse is broken! We are so back.”
Another added: “I take it England have broken the ITV curse and dare I say it’s coming…..”
While a slightly more wary fan said: “Woo hoo a sigh of relief that the ITV Curse is broken… then you realise the England v France game is on ITV. Oh for fu….”
Jordan Henderson, Harry Kane, and Bukayo Saka all scored goals as the Three Lions prevailed.
However, even if England chooses to ignore the announcer, they will face a tough challenge when they play France in the next round.
The World Cup champions defeated Poland in their round of 16 match thanks to a menacing Kylian Mbappe performance.
Following their match with Croatia in the 2018 last four, England is attempting to advance to their second straight semifinal.
