Hawks Dismiss Nate McMillan as Head Coach
According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the Atlanta Hawks have fired head coach Nate McMillan.
Joe Prunty, an assistant coach, will serve as the interim head coach, says Woj.
With a 29-30 record and eighth place in the Eastern Conference right now, the Hawks have had a rollercoaster season. Over the course of three seasons as the Hawks’ head coach, McMillan had a 99-80 record.
The team will immediately begin a search for a new head coach according to Wojnarowski with a focus on player development, accountability and getting their offense and defense into league’s Top 10.
They will prioritize hiring Quin Snyder, the former head coach of the Utah Jazz, over other candidates like Charles Lee, an assistant coach for the Milwaukee Bucks, and Kenny Atkinson, an assistant coach for the Golden State Warriors.
